Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art April 22 - July 6, 2022
This exhibition highlights artwork created by participants in the Art Heals program, a collaboration between the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art at the University of Oregon, Good Samaritan Health Services, and Stahlbush Island Farms. Art Heals workshops involve offering free art classes to a variety of groups at Good Samaritan, including both patients and healthcare providers. In these workshops, teaching artists lead participants through the process of creating vibrant paintings, often focused on the natural world. Each workshop offers participants a moment of respite, a way to process emotions, and an opportunity to connect with their peers. The artwork featured here was created in workshops led by Karla Chambers, a self-taught artist and co-owner of Stahlbush Island Farms; Jade Chambers, an artist and teacher; and Lisa Abia-Smith, JSMA Director of Outreach and Education.
