What We Do
The Eugene Springfield Fire Metro Water Rescue Team responds from two centralized locations at Station 5 (Gateway) and Station 6 (Sheldon). Water rescue services are provided in coordination with the Lane County Sheriff’s Office for all ponds and waterways within the Eugene and Springfield city limits. Services are provided on a Mutual Aid basis to neighboring fire districts bordering the city limits. The Willamette and McKenzie Rivers account for most of the team’s calls for service. Boat launch site options include:
- Aspen Street and West D Street
- Alton Baker Park
- Armitage Park
- Bellinger Landing
- Beltline & Division
- Clearwater Landing
- Island Park
- Harvest Landing
- Jasper
- Valley River
The team consists of 50 personnel certified in swift water rescue, and they are deployed among the three shifts, providing surface boat or shore based rescue. The team uses a combination of jet boats and inflatable craft for rescue
