Visual Arts Week celebrates the visual arts and provides a platform for experimentation, creativity and dialogue. Join us for the kickoff event at the October 6 First Friday ArtWalk, followed by a week of immersive art experiences.
Visit Eugene’s galleries to enjoy the latest creations from our community’s artists, including the new entries in this year’s Mayor’s Art Show. Learn about the inspiration and processes behind recent artworks and exhibitions with Lane Arts Council's Artist Highlights. Tour satellite art installations and Windowfront Exhibitions displayed throughout the downtown area and revisit our city’s 20x21 murals. Expand your artistic skills under the guidance of seasoned artists in workshops provided by Maude Kerns Art Center. Enter a magical world of illuminated artistry with ArtCity’s BEAM 2023 showcase, then close the week with the nighttime BEAM BRiGHT parade and dance party.
Art is a shared interaction, cultural exchange, and a powerful communication that compels us to think, feel and connect. Celebrate the visual arts with us!
Visual Arts Week begins at Lane Arts Council’s First Friday ArtWalk. Join us for the opening remarks at the Farmers Market Pavilion as we announce awards for the Mayor’s Art Show and acknowledge recipients of this year’s Community Arts Grants. While you’re there, enjoy live music, an artists’ marketplace and a lantern-making project led by BEAM. At the end of the reception, you can choose to join a tour of new public art installations from the Cultural Currents initiative or embark on your own self-guided tour of downtown gallery exhibits and performance art specially curated for Visual Arts Week. Be sure to visit the Downtown Library to see the opening of this year’s Mayor’s Art Show!
