Alum Bird Group - Hilary Pfeifer

October 2023  – January 2024

Hilary Pfeifer is a craft-influenced sculptor who's more often found scouring hardware stores for her materials than a traditional art supply store. HHilaryPfeifer Artister work explores the natural world through sculpture, collage and installation, often subtly incorporating found objects such as colored pencils, joint tape or sandpaper. Her recent collages are made by hand-cutting and placing hundreds of small pieces of sign vinyl and shelf papers into intricate patterns.

A native Eugenean, Hilary spent many of her formative years at Maude Kerns Art Center or meeting artists through her parents' gallery Opus Five. After taking every ceramics class the University of Oregon had to offer, she moved to Portland to earn her BFA in metals and wood from Oregon College of Art and Craft.

Her work has been featured in American Craft Magazine and is in the permanent collections of the State of Oregon, The Museum of Art in Wood, The Museum of Contemporary Craft and the White House. Hilary has created many permanent public art works in the Pacific Northwest.
