June 2023 Project Update

The Delta Ponds Loop Trail project has hit a new milestone - the construction contract has been signed and work is tentatively scheduled to begin in July.

This project completes the last segment needed for a barrier-free 1.5 mile loop trail around Delta Ponds. Planned construction includes a new pedestrian bridge and a 1000' trail extension to the north, creating a new access point at Goodpasture Island Road. Following a series of delays, a short easement across private property was acquired in 2022 allowing the project to move forward.

Construction is expected through the end of the year. Some existing parts of the northern section of the trail may be closed during construction. Signage will be posted to advise park visitors of closures.

Funding for this project comes from the 2018 Parks and Recreation Bond, System Development Charges and a $350,000 Oregon Parks and Recreation Department Local Government Grant.
