About Us
Eugene Public Library's mission is to provide equitable resources and opportunities for everyone to create a connected, caring and inspired community.
We offer a rich variety of informational, educational, and entertainment services and materials for all ages at three locations: the Downtown Library, Bethel Branch, and Sheldon Branch. We invite the community to join in free in-person and online activities.
Library staff provide research assistance and reading suggestions in person, by phone, by email, and by 24/7 online live chat.
Our large and wide-ranging collection includes physical items (print books, DVDs, CDs, magazines, newspapers), online items (eBooks, audiobooks, magazines, music, movies, courses), and Info Hub online resources.
The library provides public computers, Internet access (including wifi), printing, and other technology. And many, many more tools and resources.
Supporting our work is a team of library volunteers, including the Library Advisory Board, as well as our nonprofit fundraising partners Friends of Eugene Public Library and Eugene Public Library Foundation.
Eugene Public Library has been rated an American Library Association "Star Library" for multiple years, placing us in the top three percent of public libraries for excellence in delivering key services per dollar.
Eugene Public Library was founded in 1904 as the first Carnegie Library in Oregon. The library is part of the City of Eugene's Library, Recreation and Cultural Services Department (LRCS).
Our Acting Library Director is Angela Ocaña. Our User Experience Manager is LaVena Nohrenberg.
Service Philosophy
The library bases its service on the philosophies stated in the American Library Association’s Bill of Rights and Freedom to Read Statement.
